Nigeria Immigration Service moves to clear all backlog of international passport applications

In its effort to maintain efficient service delivery and reduce the number of people who had applied to get international passport in its Lagos offices, the headquarters of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Abuja have deployed a special taskforce to Lagos to clear all backlog of applications in its offices across Lagos State.

Confiance News gathered that the professional move by the service was disclosed to Journalists at the weekend by the Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration (ACG), O. A Talabi, the head of NIS headquarters in Lagos.

According to her the special taskforce Will begin the operation at its Ikoyi office where majority of applicants had already applied for their passports.

She also confirmed that about 25,000 Passports are yet to be collected by applicants accross its offices in Lagos State.

Talabi advised those seeking for International passport to approach there other offices at Alausa and Festac Town in Lagos to reduce the number of applicants coming to its Ikoyi office.

She further urged applicants to apply for passport through its online Servicom platform and desist from giving money to touts while seeking for passport.

According to her the present regime of the Service have made fresh innovation by providing a column in the passport to connect applicants National Identification Numbers (NIN) in line with Federal Government (FG) drive to Improve on its security drive accross the globe.

In attendance at the briefing was the head of Ikoyi passport office, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI), AI Liman and other Senior Officers.
