Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) has said that operations at its plant on Bonny Island is still active despite a Force Majeure declared in October 2022 and feedgas supply challenges.

Confiance News gathered from a statement issued by the company on Saturday.

“The plant continues to produce LNG and LPG commensurate to the feed gas it receives from its upstream gas suppliers,” the statement disclosed.

“In addition to ensuring steady operation, NLNG remains committed to its culture of transparency and maintains consistent communication with key stakeholders on developments in the upstream sector,” it continued.

Confiance News further gathered that the company is closely monitoring the resolution of supply challenges by all relevant parties.

Force majeure (Superior force), Confiance News learnt from Merriam-Webster’s dictionary,  describes those uncontrollable events (such as war, labour stoppages, or extreme weather) that are not the fault of any party and that make it difficult or impossible to carry out normal business.

It is an event or effect such as an “Act of God” that cannot be reasonably anticipated or controlled.
