Nigerian economic analyst and popular columnist, Henry Boyo, has died.

Boyo was 72 at the time of his death.

He was reported to have died on Monday after a brief illness.

He was a popular critic of the government’s policies on the economy.

The home of the late Boyo in the Ikeja area of Lagos was, on Tuesday, a beehive of activities as friends, neighbours, and colleagues were on the ground to condole with his family.

Boyo, who maintained a regular Monday back page column with Daily Independent, focusing on the economy, was described by many as a generous, humble, hardworking, and straightforward person.

Until his death, the late Boyo was a member of the editorial board as well as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Independent Newspapers.
