‎Why Nigeria Introduces tax reform reporting award for journalists, influencers

‎The Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee has unveiled the Excellence in Tax Reform Reporting Award to honour journalists and digital influencers for accurate, balanced, and impactful coverage of Nigeria’s tax reforms.

Confiance News gathered that the initiative aims to foster constructive public dialogue, combat misinformation, and promote clear, trustworthy reporting.

‎Committee Chairman Taiwo Oyedele said, “The media plays a vital role in shaping narratives and building trust. By recognizing journalists and influencers, we aim to ensure the tax reform conversation is inclusive, truthful, and builds confidence in reforms for our nation’s future.”

‎Award Details
‎- Eligibility: Open to Nigerian journalists (print, broadcast, online) and digital influencers, bloggers, and podcasters. 

‎‎- Entry Requirements: Published works from July 1 to December 31, 2025, in English, Pidgin, Hausa, Igbo, or Yoruba. Local language entries must include English translations. Videos/podcasts must be under 10 minutes. 

‎-Prizes: 1st Place: ₦10 million, 2nd Place: ₦5 million, 3rd Place: ₦3 million. Top 20 finalists receive ₦1 million each and plaques. Gadgets and training fellowships may also be awarded.

‎Judging Criteria 

‎Entries will be evaluated based on: 

‎1. Accuracy and technical correctness 

‎2. Balance and fairness 

‎3. Clarity and accessibility 

‎4. Public engagement and reach 

‎5. Creativity and innovation 

‎Awards Ceremony
‎Winners will be revealed at a prestigious gala in Lagos or Abuja, potentially broadcast live on major TV channels and streamed on YouTube and X Spaces.
