The spate of gas cylinder explosions has become alarming and has become an issue of national concern.
Confiance News recalls that one of the notable incidents is the death of the sister of popular Nigerian singer, Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, popularly called, Patoranking, and her husband in September, 2024.
The information below, which was culled from a verified WhatsApp group by Confiance News, disclosed how to detect an expired gas cylinder, which has been attributed to be one of the causes of the explosions.
The message reads: “Expired cylinder can explode any time once the expiration date elapses and that makes it a time bomb. Each gas cylinder’s expiry date is coded on the side of the cylinder usually on the collar in alphabetical order. A,B,C,D in quarters.
“A is for March, 1st Qtr
B is for June, 2nd Qtr
C is for Sept, 3rd Qtr
D is for Dec, 4th Qtr
“There is a two-digit number that follows.. Example: D06.
So if you have D06 on your cylinder, it means that it has expired Dec 2006, and if it is A22, it has expired in March 2022.
If it is C25, it is going to expire in September 2025.”
