Let’s name Nnamdi Kanu, Sunday Igboho bandits!

As far as the Nigerian government is concerned, Sunday Igboho and Nnamdi Kanu are the enemies of the state who must be caught and jailed for treasonable offences! Both IPOB, (Indigenous People of Biafra) and Sunday Igboho’s Yoruba Nation have been described by the Nigerian government as a separatist movements and therefore terrorist groups.

So it was really no surprise when on Tuesday, the 28th of June, 2021, the government gleefully announced the ‘capture’ of Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader.

The sight of Nnamdi Kanu in handcuffs is pitiful. He looked defeated, he looked tired and even ashamed. It was as if he was hiding his face from the camera; wishing he was anywhere but Nigeria.

Unfortunately for him, he was ‘caught’ or abducted or kidnapped, smuggled into Nigeria via clandestine means. Kanu will be facing trial for treasonable felony as he had jumped bail in 2017 and fled the country to the UK.

Details of how Nnamdi Kanu he was ‘caught’ remains sketchy; Kanu’s brother especially, was reported to have said that authorities in Kenya contributed to his brother’s kidnap; authorities in Kenya say, nehin, we had no hand in his abduction…the Government of Nigeria claims it got help from Interpol, they haven’t named their allies but to all of these, we say, well done.

So finally an enemy of the Nigerian state, has been caught! Nnamdi Kanu, aka, disturber of Nigeria’s growth and sovereignty has been captured! We can begin to look forward to peace and progress and stability in the country!

The north began to celebrate this coup against Kanu; leaders up north said this was a good one for the federal government, even Miyetti Allah joined in the joy, that finally, Nigerians can breathe easy.

Their joy was briefly interrupted, last week, when the DSS (Department of State Services) raided Sunday Igboho home in the dead of night. The idea was to steal in on the leader of the separatist Yoruba Nation and make him face treasonable charges against the government. The DSS encountered resistance, Igboho’s household mistook their midnight invasion for robbers and kidnappers and so there plenty of gun fight, at the end of which, two innocent people in Igboho’s household were killed by the superior power of the government agents.

Sunday Igboho and Nnamdi Kanu
The rest of Igboho’s household were arrested including his wife and cat…the Cat is believed to be Sunday Igboho; we all know Igboho is a jazz man, intelligence report has it that Sunday has a penchant for turning to funny objects- from cats to yam to even air, to escape capture, hence the capture of the cat; he has 9 lives, so far he’s evaded capture like…how many times again? We are still waiting for the cat to change back to Igboho.

With the wings of the dissents clipped, the Nigerian government is heaving a sigh of relief! Its enemies have been subdued, they have been spoken to “in a language they understood.”

But we are a forgiving nation.

Yes, Nnamdi Kanu’s separatist group has been labeled a terrorist group by the federal government and Sunday Igboho is seen as challenging the sovereignty of the nation…these two dissents have now seen the federal might is superior by far to their puny efforts, so the rest of us are begging the government to forgive these two boys for their silliness against the federal government.

If the government can overlook the flow of blood by Boko Haram insurgents, surely, what is IPOB and Yoruba nation compared to the haramist up north? Sunday and Nnamdi haven’t even cut their teeth at Kidnapping school kids and ransacking whole villages, they are learners.

The government rehabilitated Boko Haram insurgents, who not only are killing and displacing civil Nigeria, they waging war against our military, too. They shot down our boys flying to keep the country safe, they attacked our military bases, they’ve sacked whole villages and planted their flags in Adamawa, Niger and Kaduna states…in fact, as we speak, 121 students of Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna are their current guests; let’s not forget that Leah Sharibu is still not back home and over a hundred of the Chibok girls are still unaccounted for…since 2014; several thousands of north- east Nigerians are still in IDP camps thanks to these insurgents, to date, more than 30,000 lives have been lost to Boko haram and yet we forgave them!

So, if we stopped labelling Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho, ‘terrorists,’ and we call them ‘bandits,’ then they qualify for pardon.

It stands to reason that the same government that showed leniency to ‘terrorists’ I mean, bandits and kidnappers up north; should be magnanimous enough to rehabilitate Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho. These two and their cohorts deserve houses and lands and vehicles and told sins were forgiven!

And while we are in the act of rehabilitating bandits, lets add Sheik Gumi to the list…he needs help! He’s the one parents of Greenfield University in Kaduna and those in Jangebe in Niger state depended on to negotiate between them and the bandits.

Me thinks we should consider giving the Sheik a position among the Armed Forces Council. Maybe make him Commander in Chief of Negotiating with Bandits. Let’s be honest, this man has helped many parents get their children back when the government did nothing. Even the principal of Bethel Baptist High School has assured us he would contact Sheik Gumi for help with negotiating with the kidnappers.

I mean, if the government won’t budge, Sheik Gumi should be applauded and recognized for his important role!

Just saying.
