‎The Alternative Bank has reiterated its dedication to sustainable development across Africa as momentum builds ahead of the 2025 Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS).

‎The announcement, revealed in a statement issued Wednesday by the Bank’s PR Lead, Fisayo Osindeinde, highlights the institution’s active role in fostering collaborative solutions for Africa’s pressing challenges.

Confiance News ‎gathered that Sterling One Foundation and United Nations Nigeria co-hosted ASIS 2025 which will convene in Lagos from July 10–11. It aims to unite government representatives, civil society leaders, private sector stakeholders, and development partners to exchange insights and develop action plans that advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

‎Speaking at a press conference at the United Nations House in Abuja, Garba Mohammed, Executive Director (North), at The Alternative Bank, stressed the urgency of transforming talk into tangible impact.

‎“The theme of this year’s summit, ‘Scaling Action,’ speaks volumes. It reflects an urgent and deliberate shift from rhetoric to results, from bold conversations to bold execution,” Mohammed stated.   “Now is the moment for real, bold solutions to tackle issues such as poverty, food insecurity, climate change, and inequality,” he added.

‎Mohammed further emphasized the Bank’s unwavering alignment with the SDGs and the African Union’s Agenda 2063, noting that these frameworks guide every strategic move.

‎“At The Alternative Bank, we believe that impact is the new bottom line,” he said.

‎“As a purpose-driven, ethically grounded, and specialised financial institution, we have aligned our strategy and operations with the SDGs and Agenda 2063. These are not just aspirational frameworks to us; they are action guides that shape how we invest, how we collaborate, and how we serve.”

‎Since its founding, Confiance News, the Alternative Bank has actively advanced sustainable development through initiatives focused on empowering youth, women, and smallholder farmers. From reshaping Africa’s food systems to promoting inclusive agricultural practices, the Bank offers financial support, capacity-building, and market access to farmers.

‎Its ACT Youth Digital Empowerment Programme equips thousands of young Africans with digital, entrepreneurial, and life skills, turning them into drivers of change and creators of opportunities.

‎The Bank’s impact on women is equally significant. Through programs such as the Matazalla Women’s Mobility Initiative, Althaven, and the Light Her Program, female entrepreneurs gain access to eco-friendly electric tricycles, capital, mentorship, and networking platforms—all of which help break structural barriers.

‎These efforts dovetail with the goals of ASIS, as the 2025 summit prepares to kick off with a High-Level Roundtable on July 9. The gathering promises to be a pivotal moment, as global leaders converge to forge scalable solutions for Africa’s future.

‎Beyond ideas, the Summit aims to unlock capital for African-led interventions addressing climate change, education, circular economy, health, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), renewable energy, and agriculture.
